#BangkoSerye: Sonny Trillanes and his Hacker-Friend

Whether Duterte is guilty of acquiring ill-gotten wealth or not is not the issue of this article. ThinkingPinoy has already written several articles about that [TP:Duterte].

This article is also not about the prospective libel and/or perjury charges ensuing from the BPI data leak: TP has already written about that [TP: Libel vs Perjury].

Instead, this article will try to uncover who may be behind the blatant violation of the Bank Secrecy Law. After all, the confidentiality of bank deposits is an important issue for many of us [TP: BPI], so the public deserves to know all they can about the who may be behind this crime.

#BangkoSerye: Bakit Affidavit? Duterte and Trillanes, Libel and Perjury

In yesterday’s article, ThinkingPinoy theorized why Duterte insists on an affidavit from Trillanes and why Trillanes insists on not executing one. Hindi ba pwedeng mag waive na lang agad para tapos na? But then, on the flip side, executing an affidavit isn’t very difficult, so TP doesn’t understand why Trillanes won’t do it either.

In this article, I will expound on the affidavit issue and try to discover its potential significance. But first, let me quote a part of the previous article to give the readers a quick rundown of what’s TP has discussed so far:

The Duterte-Trillanes #BangkoSerye – Waiver Game – Ep. 2, Apr. 28

Last night, Duterte spokesman Peter Tiu Laviña said, “We will consult the lawyer if we will ask (Bank of the Philippine Islands) to issue a statement because no less than the name of the bank has been dragged into this. They have to issue a statement whether this is correct or not. [PhilStar]"

At this point, Duterte still refuses to sign a specific waiver for the BPI and BDO bank accounts.

On the Rebuttal from Miriam Defensor-Santiago for President's Facebook Page

Earlier today, "Miriam Defensor-Santiago for President" (MP) issued a counter-statement regarding a ThinkingPinoy article entitled "Here’s Miriam Defensor-Santiago, only because you insist". The complete MP rebuttal may be found here.

In this article, please allow me to address their points one by one. For easier reading, quotes from the MP post are in green, while my replies are in regular black.

Let's go.

Did the Liberal Party orchestrate the COMELEC Data Leak?

The government was quick to downplay the hacking of the Comelec database data leak. Comelec said the public has nothing to fear because Smartmatic’s PCOS machines work on an entirely different network. What they failed to comment on, however, is the data leak’s effects on everything else.

Oplan Lambat-Sibat: PNP admits "doctored" crime stats

Mar Roxas said Davao’s safety is a myth, or is his Oplan Lambat-Sibat the myth? Either Roxas is terrible at Math, or he thinks we are that stupid.
ThinkingPinoy first published this article in December 2015. It has been updated to reflect recent developments. If you're read the old article, please skip the first several sections and go straight to the "Update".
Before I elaborate, let’s hear both sides first.

AlDub to Roxas to Binay to Poe: The Child Rapist Romeo Jalosjos

My blood curdled the first time I saw that viral Duterte rape joke video. A rape joke is a bad joke. There’s no defending it, even if he said it in 1989 out of “utter anger” at the rapists [GMA]. The best thing Duterte could do is apologize and hope that Filipinos will forgive him.

BUT...

TP: No matter how you put it, that rape joke was terrible. Tangina ‘tong ibang mga Duterte hyper-fanatics. Binobola lang ang mga sarili. Walang objectivity nakakahaggard. Kahit pano mo pagbali-baliktarin ang issue, a rape joke is a bad joke. Period.

Anyare!? Making sense out of the April SWS Poll Results

A reader asks, “TP, why do you think SWS now seem to admit that Duterte is No.1 with their latest release of survey result? I mean, considering that in their previous results, Poe is always the frontrunner? Are they up to something?”

Let TP take a jab at it.

TP to Stranger: Duterte does not inspire me

A stranger told me, "I wish I had your courage. I want to write the same things you do - about how, in society in general, our country in particular - has two types of people. A ruling elite who can change things but won't, and a working class who want things changed, but can't do so. Hmm....maybe that's why I can't write - because I feel I have everything to lose. They say 'give a man a mask, and they'll show you their true face.' That's why you started TP?"

2 Friends on Grace Poe's DQ MR, Carpio-Sereno B!tchfight

The Supreme Court, as expected, upheld the decision to reverse COMELEC’s cancellation of Grace Poe’s certificate of candidacy, allowing FPJ’s daughter to run for the highest seat on the land. However, also as expected, SC Associate Justice Antonio Carpio was again at odds with Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno. Also, as expected, Carpio wrote yet another scathing dissent, while Sereno wrote yet another confusing concurrence.

Their literary bitchfight is so fun to read. And that's what my friend JA and I talked about.

Fact Check on Roxas HK Rally: "Thousands attended " vs "Nilangaw"

#BigasHindiBala: Is it the NPA Communists' Fault?

The blaming game started right after the Kidapawan Massacre. Farmers blame the government, the latter blames NPA communists. Let's go.

#BigasHindiBala : Malacanang releases "Secret" Damage Control Memo

In his official blog, Manila Bulletin op-ed columnist Tonyo Cruz reported that he received "a copy of a secret Palace memo immediately given to the Yellow Army’s bloggers, trolls deodorants, and apologists after the Kidapawan incident."

The memo contained guidelines and instructions on how to deal with the social media backlash resulting from yesterday's deadly dispersal of farmer and lumad rallyists in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato.

DISCLAIMER: Although Cruz is not known to write satirical articles, he has yet to publish a scanned copy of the memo. That is, Thinking Pinoy reads this "memo" with a grain of salt.

For now, let's consider this a piece of satire.
